Hours: 35 hours per week

Compensation: £25,000-£26,500

Line-manager: Executive Director

Deadline: Friday 5th July, 5pm UK time

Animal Equality is an international animal protection organisation working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals. Animal Equality has offices in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and India.

Animal Equality releases investigative materials captured from inside factory farms and slaughterhouses, exposing the conditions that farmed animals face around the world. We publish our findings on television, in newspapers and online. We routinely secure mainstream media coverage, including on the BBC, ITV, Sky news, The Times, the Guardian, New York Times and many more.

Animal Equality also advocates for political change. Our current campaigns include a UK ban on foie gras imports, increased enforcement of existing animal protection laws, legal protections for farmed fish, and Government subsidies for transitioning towards a plant-based food system.

We focus on farmed animals because of the scale and severity of the issue. More than a billion animals are confined and killed for human consumption every year in the UK. Farmed animals also often suffer in some of the worst ways: pigs typically endure painful mutilations, many chickens die of heart attacks, fish are confined in underwater cages, and some farmed animals are victims of deliberate abuse and neglect. But the problem is solvable! By utilising effective campaigning strategies, Animal Equality is having an impact for animals around the world and building a future where all animals are respected and protected, and are no longer exploited for human consumption.

The Communications and Marketing Officer role is a great opportunity for someone who’s looking to start a career in animal protection and grow as a communications and marketing professional. We hope that the successful candidate will develop with the organisation, honing their skills and becoming an integral part of our movement.

As part of the role, the successful candidate will:

  • Join a team where people have shared values and contribute to shaping and strengthening our workplace culture.
  • Develop their professional skills and gain experience in a high-performing communications and marketing team.
  • Find purpose knowing that every day you’re making a contribution to a better world and see the impact that you’re having for animals.
  • Collaborate with dedicated colleagues who are passionate about their work and have lots of experience to share.

The Communications and Digital Marketing Officer will contribute to the team’s objectives using a variety of tasks and strategies.

A typical day may include producing video and image assets for online ads, designing and scheduling posts on social media, writing articles for the website and updating our website content. However, the successful candidate can expect to adapt their approach as the needs of the team change from day to day or week to week.

A critical member of the UK team, the Communications and Digital Marketing Officer leads on the delivery of a cohesive digital marketing strategy, while ensuring that all organisational content aligns with Animal Equality’s brand and values.
