Animal Equality Takes Action Against Marriott Over Broken Cage-Free Promise
Yesterday, Animal Equality activists took to Canary Wharf to confront Marriott over its failure to deliver on its global cage-free egg commitment by the end of 2025.
Armed with megaphones, whistles, air horns, drums, placards and a powerful digi-van, campaigners made sure Marriott’s broken promise could not be ignored. The peaceful protest took place outside a Canary Wharf Marriott hotel, where senior business leaders were attending a Hotel Front Office Forum.
They refused to allow us to enter the building to meet with the branch manager, and they even called the police.

Marriott is one of the world’s largest hotel chains, operating thousands of properties globally. Its continued inaction means millions of hens remain confined in cages – one of the most extreme forms of suffering chickens used for eggs face in factory farms.
While cage-free does not mean cruelty-free, eliminating cages is a critical first step toward reducing animal suffering. Marriott has had years to prepare for this transition. The deadline has passed, yet the company has failed to act.

Animal Equality stands with activists around the world calling on Marriott to honour its public commitment and take responsibility for the animals in its supply chain. Cage cruelty is unacceptable – and broken promises from global corporations will not be tolerated.
We will continue to hold Marriott accountable until meaningful action is taken.
