CONTACT THE Paymaster General and Minister for the Cabinet Office

Write a polite message to the Rt Hon Nick Thomas-Symonds and ask him to secure an animal welfare carve-out that restricts low-welfare imports in the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Agreement.

Together, we must do all we can to help those animals who are trapped in miserable farms.

Animal welfare carve-outs in the UK-EU SPS negotiations

What is your enquiry?

I am deeply concerned about the UK–EU Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Agreement currently being negotiated.

If the Government agrees to dynamic alignment, the UK could be forced to follow EU rules automatically – even when they fall below the animal welfare standards our country prides itself on.

This risks undermining progress on issues like the ban on live exports and blocking future bans on products produced by cruel methods such as foie gras made by force-feeding.

Please use your influence to include an animal welfare carve-out in the SPS Agreement, so the UK keeps the right to go further for animals – and to commit to transparency so the public knows what’s being agreed in our name.
