At a United Kingdom pig farm certified and praised for having high standards, our investigators uncovered horrible abuse, including a worker smashing piglets’ heads against a wall, piglets screaming in agony as their teeth were clipped, and terrified pigs being shocked repeatedly with an electric prod.

In collaboration with Canadian photographer Jo-Anne McArthur, our investigation into Spanish egg farms reveals millions of chickens spend their entire lives inside a cage, with space to live no larger than a letter-sized piece of paper. The footage we collected shows chickens suffer tremendously on these farms.

Investigators exposed horrific and unsanitary conditions in one of Germany’s biggest egg-producing facilities, which supplies eggs to the biggest supermarket and budget supermarket chains in the country, showing a frightening sight of sickness, filth, and death.

After an anonymous tip-off, Animal Equality investigators visited Fir Tree Farm, which is owned by one of Britain’s largest pig producers. We found that several workers repeatedly abused animals, including kicking pigs in the face and head, jabbing pigs with a fork and spraying paint directly up a pig’s nose.

100% Italian Chicken: The Animal Equality investigation team once again revealed the cruelty behind chicken breeding in Italy. This investigation focused on showing the violence and mistreatment that chickens are forced to suffer from birth to slaughter.

Just days after Animal Equality released shocking scenes of suffering filmed on a Noble Foods farm, the company – which is the United Kingdom’s biggest egg producer – committed to ending the sale of eggs from caged hens by 2025.

Once again, Animal Equality investigators showed the world a sad look inside an Italian rabbit slaughterhouse. This investigation revealed that oftentimes, the animals weren’t stunned as required by law, resulting in their prolonged suffering.

In collaboration with the Spanish TV program Salvados, Animal Equality investigated Hermanos Carrasco, a pig farm located in Spain’s Murcia region and supplier of the international meat company El Pozo which supplies major United Kingdom retailers. We discovered animals in shockingly cruel conditions, in violation of the law, suffering for days and weeks on end. Our investigation resulted in a petition asking UK retailers to stop selling meat from the supplier.

We released a series of images shot inside a sheep and goat slaughterhouse in Italy, which is one of the 200 Italian facilities that allows the ritual slaughter of animals without prior stunning, resulting in a painful and terrifying death for the sensitive animals.

Animal Equality exposed widespread cruelty in slaughterhouses across the Mexican state of Jalisco and introduced legislation aimed at holding animal abusers accountable under the law.

Investigators found distressing conditions on four pig farms in the United Kingdom, including one which had won a ‘National Pig Award’ in 2016 and 2017. Pigs were routinely tail-docked, a practice prohibited by UK law, and female pigs were confined in cramped stalls for at least five continuous days.
