Investigation into horse slaughter in Italy
Our team in Italy has documented for the first time the cruel slaughter of horses in the country, including mistreatment and violations of European animal welfare standards.
The collected images were broadcast on a popular television news channel – TGR Emilia Romagna – in an exclusive report, showing thousands of viewers what lies hidden in the slaughterhouses where horses are killed for human consumption.

Our disturbing findings
Hundreds of hours of footage and veterinary analysis have revealed serious issues within the Zerbini & Ragazzi slaughterhouse in Correggio, in the province of Reggio Emilia.
Our investigators documented extremely serious incidents: horses forced to lie in their own excrement, insulted, and whipped. They also documented animals still conscious when they were hung or had their jugular veins cut during slaughter. We have filed a complaint with the Reggio Emilia Prosecutor’s Office for mistreatment and failure to comply with animal welfare regulations.

PROTECT INNOCENCE
Lambs’ rich emotional lives allow them to build friendships and recognize facial expressions. Protect these intuitive animals by choosing plant-based meat alternatives.
