The Voice of Our Supporters

“I want to thank you for your exceptional courage in bringing to light the terrible treatment of animals in all the countries where you work. I deeply appreciate it and can only imagine how difficult it can be to do this work. But thanks to your investigations and efforts people become aware of the horrors perpetrated on animals.”

Miriam
Donor and Supporter of Animal Equality
“Animal rights is my biggest passion. Sometimes as an animal lover I can feel a little helpless as I know what goes on behind those factory farm doors. When I give to Animal Equality I feel a little more at ease as I have total faith that they are doing what they can as effectively as possible with the resources they have and doing an absolutely amazing job creating direct, real changes.”

Marios
Donor and Supporter of Animal Equality
“You are the strength that many of us do not have in facing the cruelties of this society. Thank you for your courage and hard work. Years ago I would never have thought of switching to a plant-based diet, but now, thanks to your investigations and hard sacrifice, you give me one more reason to be proud of my choice.”

Filippo
Donor and Supporter of Animal Equality
“When you witness the horror that really happens behind closed doors in slaughterhouses to farm animals all over the world, it’s impossible not to be affected by it and to realise that we have to do something drastic to stop it.”

Joaquin Phoenix
Actor, Activist and Supporter of Animal Equality
“Nothing prepares you for looking into the eyes of a mother pig whose life is to be impregnated and left in a cage until she’s slaughtered. I can’t imagine how awful it must be to be literally trapped and crushing your own babies and not be able to do anything about it.”

Rooney Mara
Actor, Activist and Supporter of Animal Equality
“Going into that foie gras farm gave me an insight, if only brief, into the lives of the brave activists who venture into factory farms and slaughterhouses to uncover all manner of animal abuses. I’m talking about the investigators who see the kinds of things I saw and feel the kind of pain I felt, and yet make the difficult decision to go back again day after day to do more.”

How does the match work?

Over the past 15 years, Animal Equality has become one of the most effective animal protection organisations in the world.

We have done this by investigating the animal agriculture industry and working with policymakers all around the world to achieve meaningful, long-lasting legislative results on behalf of farmed animals.

We work globally, with offices in eight countries – the UK, US, Brazil, India, Mexico, Italy, Germany and Spain – making history for animals. Below are just a few examples of what we have achieved in the past months:

  • In June last year, the EU committed to phasing out cages for all farmed animals by 2027, impacting the lives of 300 million animals every year.
  • After one year of campaigning, Italy has committed to banning male chick culling in the egg industry, impacting the lives of between 25 and 40 million chicks every year.
  • Following our groundbreaking investigation inside a salmon slaughterhouse operated by The Scottish Salmon Company, the UK Government announced that it will start carrying out routine welfare inspections inside fish slaughterhouses in Scotland for the first time.
  • Our Vice-President of Latin America has been nominated as one of the leading Mexicans shaping contemporary culture in TIME Magazine, one of the country’s most popular magazines.

And much more!

Because of the undeniable impact that our team has had over recent years, a very generous supporter has decided to match every single donation received by Animal Equality from now until 7th July 2022.

This incredible gift will help us continue to change the world for animals. But not only that.

This donor is going to help every single person who wants to make a difference for animals today. Whether it’s someone who has been fighting for animals for years, or someone who is new to this cause and wants to take their first steps, he wants to help them make a difference.

Because he knows how precious every person is. The more people who can help, the more animals we can spare from a lifetime of suffering.

So he’s pledged that if you make a donation to Animal Equality today, he’ll make a donation of the same amount for you, which means you’ll be able to give twice as much to help animals.

And he’s going to do it for everyone.

Here’s how it works in detail:

  • If you make a one-time donation

If you decided to make a £30 donation to Animal Equality today. The special donor would also make the same £30 donation. This means you would be giving £60 to help animals, but for the price of £30, and it’ll be in your name. It’s an incredible opportunity.

  • If you make a monthly donation

If you decide to set up a monthly donation of £20 per month. The special donor will also make the same £20 donation every month with you for the next twelve months. This means you would be giving £40 to help animals every month, but for the price of £20.

So if you choose to donate every month, you’d know that every time you received some good news about animals, it happened because of you.

How we will use your donations?

We will carry out and publish shocking investigations that will highlight the exploitation of animals in factory farms and slaughterhouses.

With the images and the footage we capture, we will show people up and down the country that animals need help and inspire people to take action and add their voice to our mission. In addition to this, we will use the evidence we uncover to push the Government for change and report any wrongdoing our investigators witness to the authorities so that those who mistreat animals are held accountable.

We will challenge the government and push for institutional change.

We are closer than ever to securing a ban on the importation of foie gras into the UK and we will make sure that the Government delivers on its promise for a ban. We will also continue to work closely with leading experts, academics and lawyers to speak up for forgotten farmed fish and push for meaningful protections specific to them.

“Documenting the reality of animals inside factory farms and slaughterhouses is certainly something that leaves deep scars in the hearts of us investigators... but they know it is worthwhile, they know that it is the most powerful weapon we have to end the animals’ suffering.”

DULCE RAMÍREZ
Vice-President of Animal Equality in Latin America
“The industry responds to the publication of our investigations by claiming that cases of abuse are rare, but with each new investigation this excuse loses credibility. Around the world, Animal Equality has filmed on more than 800 farms, making it difficult for the industry to use the ‘bad apple’ excuse.”

SHARON NÚÑEZ
President of Animal Equality
“The task of our team of investigators is to open the cracks in the walls erected by the industry and bring light where total darkness reigns.”

JAVIER MORENO
Co-founder of Animal Equality
