Protest for Farmed Fish

Three years ago, the Animal Welfare Committee recommended slaughter protections, and fish are still waiting. Join us in London on 6th October to call for the Government to pass long-awaited laws for farmed fish!

Three years of silence

Three years ago, the Animal Welfare Committee’s  recommendation to the UK Government was published. The experts were clear: give farmed fish legal protections at the time of slaughter. Without this protection, farmed fish have been left to suffocate in ice, incorrectly stunned, or be bludgeoned to death.

The Committee originally sounded the alarm 30 years ago. Despite this, the UK Government has failed to launch a public consultation and introduce legislation. All the while, millions of fish endure extreme suffering at the end of their lives every year.

Speak up for fish

Right now, farmed fish can legally be suffocated in air, slowly chilled to death in ice, or have their gills cut while still conscious, with no law to stop it.

Fish should not be killed for human consumption at all. While we fight for that to end, the very least they’re owed is protection from this extreme suffering, protection the Government promised three years ago and still hasn’t delivered.

We’re coming together in London to wish the Government an unhappy third birthday on their broken promise – in three years, nothing has changed. While no candles are worth lighting, this is a great opportunity to make some noise for farmed fish!

Protect Fish

Scientists confirm that fish feel pain and suffer. Protect these sensitive beings by choosing plant-based alternatives to animal food products.
